Our future is somewhere in one of those multi-acre data-centers that are popping up everywhere there is a fallow field that used to grow soybeans before Trump killed that market with tariffs.

In January of 2017, Kellyanne Conway Stood on the Front Lawn of the White House and Coined the Phrase “Alternative Facts” in Defending to a Reporter Sean Spicer’s Repetition of Trump’s Claim That the Audience at His Inauguration Was the “Biggest in History.” What Conway Was Really Saying Was That There Are No “Facts” Anymore. Now, There Are Only What We Tell You Are Facts.

The Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist, Ron Suskind Wrote an Extraordinary Book in 2004 That Contains an Early Description of a Strategy That Could Be Compared to “Flood the Zone”: “The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O’Neill.” in the Book, Suskind Described an Unnamed White House Official Who in Explaining the Bush Administration’s Theory of Governing, Told Him That “Guys Like Me Were ‘In What We Call the Reality-Based Community,’ Which He Defined as People Who ‘Believe That Solutions Emerge From Your Judicious Study of Discernible Reality. That’s Not the Way the World Really Works Anymore,’ He Continued. ‘We’re an Empire Now, and When We Act, We Create Our Own Reality. And While You’re Studying That Reality—Judiciously, as You Will—We’ll Act Again, Creating Other New Realities, Which You Can Study Too, and That’s How Things Will Sort Out. We’re History’s actors…and You, All of You, Will Be Left to Just Study What We Do’.”

Given the Flood of Lies That Begat the War in Iraq, That Explanation Could Be Defined as Another Description of Flooding the Zone. You Tell Enough Lies Fast Enough, and You Keep Repeating Them Until the Opposition—The Press, Historians, Other Politicians—Are Overwhelmed by the Volume and Repetition Until They Are Helpless to React or Respond.

Georgia Representative Mike Collins, Who Leads the Race in the Republican Primary to Challenge Senator Jon Ossoff Next Year, Recently Created, With the Assistance of Artificial Intelligence, a Deep-Fake Video of Ossoff Saying That He Doesn’t Care About the Problems of Farmers in Georgia; All He Cares About Are the Big Donors to His Campaign.

Now That Is Creating What the Bush Administration Official Called “Our Own Reality.”

As Gary Accurately Pointed Out to Me, We Have Now Left the World That We Used to Live In Where We Could Depend on Our Eyes and Ears to Ascertain for Us What Was Real and What Was Not, Where We Could Use Our Brains to Determine What Was Provably True and What Was Not. Now the Guys Like Bannon and the Bush Official and Trump Himself Don’t Have to Depend on Taking Reality and Just Lying About It to Create Kellyanne Conway’s “Alternative Facts.” They Can Now Create “Reality” Out of 1’s and 0’s, Digital Bits of Nothingness.

I’ll Go Back to the Question in My Title: How Do We Know the Videos Showing So-Called Drug Boats Being Shot Out of the Water Are Real? And I’ll Answer It With This: We Don’t. Donald Trump Is So Eager to Take the Military He Has Seized Control of That He Has Renamed the Department of Defense as the Department of War, and He Has Been Actively Casting About for a Shooting War He Can Start. My Theory Is That His National Security and Military Advisers Have Told Him That Starting a War With Venezuela (!) Would Have the Nearly Immediate Effect of Causing Casualties—Dead American Soldiers, Sailors, and Perhaps Airmen and Airwomen Being Returned by C-17 Transport Aircraft to Dover Air Force Base in Flag-Draped Caskets.
