Arguably, the three major upsets in Tuesday night’s election results were that two women and a Muslim man not only defeated Trump's expectations but crushed them.
Every so often, a person or a movement comes along that resonates in a way that breaks through. The Civil Rights Movement in the ‘60s, Women’s Liberation in the ‘70s, etc.
Per my iPad’s handy-dandy New Oxford American Dictionary, the definitions of “conservative” are:
- Averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values.
- A person favoring free enterprise, private ownership, and socially traditional ideas.
I could add a few of my own thoughts to that, but that’s a good start. Conservatives “conserve” what they’re familiar with. They reject the unknown. The “other.” Because who knows, if we allow those “others” to infiltrate our (largely) WASP society, it could be the beginning of the end of our comfort zones.
Arguably, the three major upsets in Tuesday night’s election results were that two women and a Muslim man defeated their more traditionally conservative challengers. And they didn’t just win. They CRUSHED.
In a three-way race for Mayor of New York, the victor garnered over 50% of the vote. In the Gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, both women defeated their conservative opponents by double digits. Fifteen percentage points in Virginia, thirteen in New Jersey.
In Pennsylvania, in California, in other races around the country, the blue wave swept over the land. Proposition 50 passed by nearly 2 to 1. That’s an epic waxing, my friends. I was pretty sure yesterday morning that the Dems were going to have a good night, but these margins are just insane.
Conservatives have successfully convinced huge swaths of American society that socialism is synonymous with communism. Post 9/11, the conservative media has spent billions conflating Islam with terrorism, characterizing it as the antithesis of Christianity. Donald Trump (to his own party’s detriment it turns out), famously said Mexicans are “drug dealers, criminals and rapists.”
White conservative America responded to these slurs accordingly. Because: “averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values.”
In New York City, two million ballots were cast for Mayor, slightly more than half for Zohran Mamdani. That’s the biggest showing in 56 years.
In each and every race, the message was loud and clear: November 4th 2025 was a rebuke to the narrow-minded, bigoted, misogynistic, selfish, Islamophobic, greedy, corrupt, authoritarian LIES that today’s conservatives have embraced.
Donald Trump posted late last night; “AND SO IT BEGINS!”
Wrong, Biff. It began decades ago. In your self-absorbed bubble, you just couldn’t conceive that your “MAGA movement” would be a temporary glitch in America’s promise to EVERYONE.
Honorary crash test dummy for Hammocks R Us, intrepid toxicity tester for Laphroaig Distillery, mobile Javaslinger, moonshiner in training, part time writer, part time foodie, part time flirt, ponderer of all things Cosmic, hot sauce aficionado, skeptic of conspiracy theorists, challenger of balderdashery, antithetical to all things Trump, Fool Emeritus from Whatsamatta U, three-time champion over corporate evil, downtrodden survivor of the Coulter Wars, psychotic women, cancer, heart disease and my own poor judgement.
