We have a problem in this country at this time. We have law makers and holders of government offices and positions who technically do not qualify for their posts. This is not an opinion. This is the law of the land, Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

As the various glacially slow investigations into the attempted coup by the Trump faction on January 6th roll forward, more and more information is trickling out about how close we came to becoming the Gillead described by Margaret Atwood in her book The Handmaid’s Tale.

It is encouraging to see that a hard deadline has been set by the Bernie Thompson, the chair of the House Select Committee investigating the insurrection. Only two of the eleven people subpoenaed so far have complied and criminal referrals for prosecution of any holdouts will happen October 7th.

But what about the sitting Members of Congress, against whom evidence exists of their participation? Names like Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, Mo Brooks, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Josh Hawley, Madison Cawthorne have been reportedly connected in greater or lesser degrees to this coup attempt. Yet none of them have been directly investigated, that we know of.

The 14th Amendment is clear. Nothing in it sets aside due process, but evidence and allegation exist and not pursuing a resolution of this to the satisfaction of this portion of the supreme law of our land is a dereliction.

As of now, these people still hold office in direct spite of their Oath of Office. Here is the Oath each of these members swore when assuming their posts:

I,___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Supporting an insurrection is the most blatant violation of this oath and thus the 14th Amendment one could imagine.

Tons of information and evidence has been gathered. Unfortunately some of it is only now being revealed by authors more interested in book royalties than their duties as citizens. Just as with Bob Woodward’s earlier publication where he sat on direct evidence of Trump’s lies about the nature of the Covid pandemic and its dangers, we now have a new book from him. Stephanie Grisham is in this same boat. These books are “tell-alls” of sensational revelations. But these revelations are based on evidences of crimes against the United States. These authors sat on evidence of treason. Rather than turn the information to law enforcement, they did book deals. As the former guy would say, “Sad.”

But now that the data is out and royalty checks are flowing where are the prosecutions? Have their evidences, recordings, notes and other materials been turned in to law enforcement agencies?

Such is the unfortunate nature of attitudes in the United States. This is too often a “me first” country. “Gotta get mine” is too frequently the rule of the day. This is the corruption wrought by authors like Ayn Rand—an actually despicable individual in her personal life—who glorify stepping on others on the way up.

True survival in life comes from caring for oneself, family, groups and mankind in balance. These people ignore the indesputable fact that knowing of a crime and not immediately reporting it makes them a party to it. Just because these people finally published does not absolve them. Grisham was a party to all she writes about at the White House. Now she profits from it. Shame is too weak a term.

But enough of these parasites. When will we see action to enforce removal of traitors from the halls of Congress?
