If you’re like any normal person with even semi-logical thought processes, the spectacle of Trump getting in front of cameras and ranting against judges, court staff, prosecutors—or anyone else he wants to put in front of firing squads—seems pretty crazy.
We can get into speculation that this is some sort of deep need to stay up in the ratings for his fanboy outlets like FOX, OANN, Newsmax and others. There’s probably a little truth in that. But it just doesn’t fully balance the calculator tape.
The picture becomes much clearer when you get yourself on one of his email lists, especially one run by the Republican outfit WinRed. I did this a while ago, not with one of my usual addresses, but a throwaway one.
Here’s a few samples from some recent Trump emails:
GAG ORDER HEARING SET
We’re barely into the new month – and the Deep State Democrats are already coming after me with everything they’ve got.
A sham trial in New York was not enough to satisfy these tyrants’ thirst for power. Now, the Biden Department of Justice is once again requesting a GAG ORDER against me….
NEARLY TWO MILLIONS SOLD!
Patriot, TWO MILLION MAGA hats sold really is quite something.
The only thing Crooked Joe is giving away millions of is YOUR tax dollars to other countries!
But in honor of our incredible movement – the most resilient and dedicated in our nation’s history – I’ve instructed my team to produce a special edition “Commemorative Two Millionth MAGA Hat” that I’ll personally autograph just for you….
AFTER ALL YOU’VE WITNESSED THIS WEEK
Patriot,
This week, as you watched yours truly stand trial as a completely innocent man, you’ve seen exactly what the Radical Democrats’ endgame really is…
A pursuit of absolute power at the expense of our free Republic, our Constitution, and not just my civil liberties, but YOUR freedom as well.
The power-drunk Democrats, TERRIFIED by the latest polls that show us LEADING Crooked Joe by 10 POINTS, will do anything – truly, anything – to destroy the one man who can and will defeat Biden in 2024….
These few samples are just part of what was sent multiple times each day. What we see here is that propaganda buttons are being pushed many times a day by Trump and his team. Now, let’s note carefully, this is not his legal team. These are ALL fundraising emails. Almost all of them have some sort of appeal to help him “save” the country from the evils of the communist left.
Trump is hitting his base with outrage-messaging through media outlets where he’s defying legal authority—ironically which he took an oath to uphold and defend—while playing the victim. These are then followed up with email blasts to the “faithful.” Then his fans—already challenged in the logic department—receiving these emails decide to dig into their bank accounts and credit ratings to help this poor, oppressed, downtrodden, wannabe dictator.
But that’s the deal nowadays. Trump fundraises off of every utterance. And if there is not enough outrage available at any given moment, he’ll make some more. For years now, media outlets have been happy to get the ratings Donnie’s brand of insanity seems to generate. He knows it, and has this down to a formula.
So the question isn’t “How can he say this while under a gag order?” It is more like, “How much will he make from ignoring another judge’s order and getting whiny about his ‘First Amendment’ rights?” Of course, WinRed will be happy collecting their commissions.
Trump isn’t the only insurrectionist fundraising off of his situation. Lots of the minions he conned into attacking the Capitol and who are now under prosecution for January 6th have been doing the same. But at least one of these defendants has the government coming after that money. Perhaps the same should happen with Trump and WinRed.
Apparently there is no shortage of people who will happily shell out cash to support people who violently tried to overthrow our government and Constitution. Some of these people even paid big to fund the legal defense of teenage murderer Kyle Rittenhouse.
Yes, there are people in this country who will pay money to see it brought down. Some of them are billionaires or “captains” of industry who think people from history had the right idea—like Hitler. American industrialists in 1940 viewed Hitler as a man who certainly knew how to bring down labor costs. That sounds very dark and it is—correctly so.
Our current situation is not the first time big business interests have conspired to overthrow our democracy. It happened in 1940, less than a year before our entry into World War II.
We have extensively covered on this site the fact that there are all too many people who value money far more than they do their fellow man. And these sorry examples of inhumanity seem to be content to back a guy who himself is deeply terrified of his fellow man.
If you have any question of how much Trump values those who have helped him along the way just take a short look at Rudy Giuliani. He who was once considered “America’s Mayor” after years of association with Trump is now an alcoholic relic and a punch line for late night comics. And the Pillow Guy just announced he is completely broke and abandoned by his legal team.
Meanwhile Trump sees opportunity for more money with every carping criticism he utters, and like clockwork that money shows up.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Judge Arthur Engoron acts to enforce his gag order. And to see if anyone at DOJ decides to claw back the money Trump has been raising by marketing outrage and bombast.
Deep down what terrifies him the most is that his acts of destruction and treason are finally being called to account.
Waiting for more shoes—and emails—to drop.
