I debated with myself for a couple of hours this afternoon whether or not to share the YouTube video Trump posted on his social media account showing a pickup truck pasted with pro-Trump decals, flying pro-police flags, with a poster of a trussed-up Joe Biden displayed on the tailgate.
Commentators on cable news today have gone back and forth about whether Trump’s post and the display of the photoshopped Biden photograph amount to a threat against the president significant enough to warrant an investigation by the Secret Service. Contacted by CNN about the video, the Secret Service said the agency “does not confirm or comment on matters of protective intelligence.”
Personally, I’m exhausted by Trump’s capacity for ignorance and evil. The same goes for his followers.
I’m just glad that our tax dollars pay for the Secret Service officers who protect the president. That President Biden’s political opponent is one of those he must be protected against marks a dark day in the history of this country.
Elections are not supposed to be cage matches, and they weren’t until Donald Trump came along.
