Surprisingly—or maybe not so much—I haven’t had a lot to say over the past few days. I’m probably not alone.
For the second time in eight years we’ve elected an obvious criminal, probable traitor, white supremacist and fascist to the White House. To everyone else who asks themselves, “What’s wrong with this picture?” The answer is plenty.
Aside from the mysterious disconnect between reality and voters comes the question of “How the hell is it, after all we experienced in Trump’s first term, that apparently 20 million people said, ‘Screw it. I’m staying home.” It appears that there were about 20 million less votes cast than in 2020, in the most obviously important election to the country in our long history. And now of course, because of Project 2025—which various gloating ghouls now say was real all along—we have to seriously wonder if this was our last election. Of course, Elon said otherwise. But that makes it even more questionable—his free speech absolutism absolutely applies to his straight-faced propaganda.
The repeated reports of how Harris and Walz ran a “near perfect” campaign are obvious drivel when compared to the results. But what is more obvious is that we were not on the same page, or even in the same book, with the games the opposition was playing. Trump kept saying he didn’t need the votes. The question of “why not” was not asked often enough. It was chalked up to his mental state and his cognitive decline. What if it was something else. Maybe it was one of those rare moments when he was not necessarily telling the truth but gloating in advance,
This is a rather speculative thing to say on a site called “Factkeepers.” But the fact is that he did say it. It is also a fact that criminals always, deep down, want to get caught. It is one of the reasons they accuse others of the crimes they themselves are committing—you know voter fraud? Remember, about 95 percent of the tiny few fraudulent votes that got cast in 2020 were from Trump supporters. But his was the loudest voice screaming about it.
These are just things to keep in mind. And to keep in the mind along with the question of 20 million fewer votes.
Who knows what the story really is. Certainly not me. But things that don’t make sense stick with me. I wish more people had this problem. Many do, but too many folks will accept just about anything that explains away something nonsensical.
I’ve been plagued over the past few days with questions about how we will get through at least the next two years until we have a hope of restoring the Constitutional checks and balances that have just been mowed down.
The Two Main Problems
I have a couple of ideas how. First and foremost we need to cease the business-as-usual view of politics. Trump’s people have proven that there is now no such thing. This country has been buried under a blanket of black propaganda so deep that people believed the best economy in decades was actually failing. The “inflation” that was everyone’s nemesis was actively being created by price gouging of key commodities like food and fuel. Yet voters decided it was Biden’s fault and thus voted against Harris. In other words the dissatisfaction was manufactured and then retargeted. The people who created that inflation—which Biden was able to reduce in spite of them—were Trump’s financial backers.
A lot of messaging has been devoted to calling out misinformation, disinformation and propaganda. Some attention has been given to the channels that forward them. But very little has been known until recently about the sources and methods driving this fire hose of falsehood.
I wrote a few weeks ago about the new book by Mary Wald, Sowing Hate and Chaos. This book lays out the full picture and the methods of manipulation that have been used against this country.
The scary part is that this “technology” is diabolically workable and we are not the first country to fall victim to these manipulations. The damage done by these techniques is hard to undo. But they are vulnerable to one thing: when people become aware of them, they become ineffective. The mere publishing, distribution and understanding of this book can undermine the agents of fascism that now appear to be so successful.
We need to change course and become experts in exposing not only the sources of black propaganda but their methods and counter each message in volume at every turn. Get this book, read it and get others to read it. The more who know, the safer we become—and this applies to any country.
Next, and this is actually even more important, we need to take care of us. “What the hell does that mean?” I’m sure you are asking. We, and I include myself here, have had an attitude problem since the crushing night of November 5th. It is not that we have a bad attitude or emotional level, it is that one has been forced on us by the appearance of failure.
We failed hard. That takes an emotional toll. And this itself is a problem. People operating in the lower bands of emotions: fear, apathy, grief, hate, anger, etc., do not make good decisions or take effective actions. We have to drag ourselves back up the emotional scale to at least boredom, but preferably mild interest, cheerfulness and enthusiasm.
I know many will ask, “How the hell do I do that? Things are very bad.” I’ll let you in on a secret. We can create our emotions by decision and consideration. They are not actually fully dependent on external factors. If this sound utterly contrary to the teachings of psychology, it should. Psychology was rendered useless as a social technology back in 1879 when Wilhelm Wundt at Leipzig University defined man as an animal. The word psychology actually means the study of the spirit, not the brain as it is currently practiced. So you can safely ignore anything taught there and you’ll be better off.
Many people feel stuck with emotional baggage and can’t see a way out. That is quite understandable. But something can be done about that too. And hell no, drugs are not any solution—they just make things worse.
The “feeling” many people define today for this crushing weight is called depression. Depression has been marketed for quite some time as a medical condition. It is not. It can be handled with simple, self-administered techniques that anyone can use. If you want to know more about this, I have another site in pilot stage that I can refer you to for answers.
The Future of This Site
To be perfectly honest, I wondered if this site had a future. We dedicated most of this year to publishing data on voting and why it was our job and everyone’s responsibility. Didn’t work. But there are a hell of a lot of Facts to keep in spite of this. Since “business as usual” was about as useful as a screen door in a submarine, workable and empowering facts need to be focused on and shared.
How do we overcome the opposition to humanity that has taken root in two and a half of the three branches of our government?
A lot of facts exist that can help us solve this critical question. This will be our focus going forward. Please let me know how this sits with you.
