If you’re in your thirties or forties, and you have no personal memory of the press releases published by TASS; the mouthpiece of the Soviet State at that time—or if you’ve never been “entertained” by old Radio Moscow broadcasts or Radio Pyongyang, the Voice of North Korea, this is the next-best thing.
A quick refresher: Trump fired the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner last week after she published some disappointing July jobs numbers. She also went back to the stats of the two previous months, May and June, and corrected them too. We can’t have that! Out the door she went.
So yesterday, Trump invited the media into the Oval Office (which after his remodel looks like the ménage à trois room at Mustang Ranch East). With him was Stephen Moore, one of the original founders of the GOP tax cut cult; “Club for Growth,” and is currently with the Heritage Foundation. He’s been a manic proponent of trickle down economics since the ‘80s.
The presentation in this video does homage to the most comical 1980’s Communist propaganda I’ve ever seen. Moore flips through his cards and charts, never explaining in any detail what the bars and graphs represent. It’s all cherry-picked to satisfy Trump.
Notice that there’s no forecast per se, and nothing that the viewer can look at and apply to our lives. It’s ALL about comparing Trump’s economy to Biden’s. Trump’s being stellar, Biden’s being disastrous.

Moore is a scumbag and a liar, but he’s not stupid. I’m sure even he knows his presentation got laughed at from coast to coast. But none of that matters as long as Trump is happy. And of course his cult too, most of whom have to pull their pants down just to count to 21 (think about it).
And for such a “respected” economist, Moore has had some trouble over the years keeping his own personal facts ‘n figures straight. A few years back, the IRS slapped him with a $75,000 lien for filing a false tax return. They accused him of committing fraud. Moore claimed it was his accountant’s fault for “accidentally” writing off expenses not allowed by the law, including his child support payments. Moore had no idea his accountant did that! Honest!
But hey, he was still good enough for Trump to parade him and his alternate facts before the press yesterday.
