Can a Ping Pong Putsch Help to Impeach Trump?

by | Nov 19, 2025 | Opinions & Commentary

Trump needs to be removed from office. The fastest way to do it is impeach him. What if Ping Pong balls turn out to be the way to motivate Congressional Republicans to do it?

Who is tired of having a destructive, loud-mouthed criminal in the White House? I see a lot of raised hands out there.

The problem is not seeing a lot of raised hands to this question on the Republican side of the aisle in Congress. Sure we are seeing some division building between Trump and Republicans. But not nearly enough. Why?

Well, one reason may be simple cowardice. The current tale of Marjorie Taylor Greene is a great case in point. For years she has operated as a firebrand mouthpiece backing up Trump. Now that she has broken with him over the Epstein files, she has been receiving death threats and has had to hire private security.

This is a legitimate concern. The feeling is that if you piss of Trump you have to start watching your back.

A couple of Republican Senators came out in favor of backing the vote to force the release of the Epstein files. One of them was promptly subjected to a swatting attempt at home. This is where someone calls in a fake violence threat at an address in order to prompt a massive police response including SWAT with all their lethal hardware. These can become deadly, so it is not a small thing.

So in some ways the fear that Congressional Republicans have of crossing Trump is a real thing. In other ways it is simply a blunt violation of each member’s oath that they swore when taking their seats in Congress.

Danger is out there. Trump and his hardcore backers are dangerous He added even more dangerous creeps to our society when he pardoned the violent and deadly insurrectionists from Jan 6, 2021. So be it.

But here’s the thing. An oath is an oath. Each member of Congress that dithers rather than honoring their oath is actually going to regret it for the rest of their days. And the easiest thing any person can do is change their mind. MGT did it. Others can do it as well. Sometimes people need a bit of prodding.

This brings me back to the title of this post. I know what you are thinking, “What the hell is a Ping Pong Putsch?”

Well, a putsch is a rebellion for short. Many may recall hearing it as the Beer Hall Putsch, the failed coup by Hitler and the Nazis in 1923. But the putsch being described here is not violent at all unless you have an irrational fear of ping pong balls

A new site called GOPBalls.com now makes in possible to send Republicans in Congress some orange ping pong balls with their logo on them and the phrases “Trump Impeachment Balls, Time to do your job.”

Imagine members receiving these from hundreds or thousands of people.

As the far right has taught us over the years, message repetition is really, really important. And they’ve been doing it with lies. Message repetition becomes extremely powerful when the message is actually true.

So could it be that Ping Pong balls could form the message medium to finally rid the country of Trump? Who knows. But it is something we can do. And when you can do anything at all about an oppressive situation, it becomes that much less oppressive.

I’ve already sent a set to the Congressperson from my district, Anna Paulina Luna. Don’t let her be the only one. Time for the world’s first entirely non-violent and actually humorous putsch.
