If the title of this piece stopped you and made you wonder, “What the hell is industrialized propaganda?” Good. It is a new term just invented and which is vital to understand, if we want to keep our country that is.

For the past two and a half years a close friend has been working on a book that covers what industrialized propaganda is, how it works, who is behind it and most importantly, g=how to recognize it and thus be able to counter it.

The book is now complete. It is called Sowing Hate and Chaos: How Propaganda Is Used to Destroy Democracy. It is available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle formats.

Author Mary Wald has a decades-long history of working with Nobel Peace Prize laureates like John Hume, Mikhail Gorbachev, His Holiness the Dalia Lama, the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the current president of Timor-Leste (previously known as East Timor), José Ramos Horte—who has also written a foreword for the book.

At the core of this work is Mary’s discovery of a work by a French Psychiatrist, Roger Mucchielli who researched and documented propaganda techniques for manipulating populations. As Mary notes in her first chapter (a full copy of which is included below):

The techniques Mucchielli describes are not what we normally think of when we hear the word propaganda. This is not the kind of propaganda that selects facts and twists the news, or even the disinformation campaigns that forward lies in national media, documentaries, or books to advance the narrative of leaders.

We are dealing with something else entirely. These are the tools used by state-sponsored psyops operators at national levels. These ARE the techniques behind things like the overthrow of the Indonesian government resulting in the installation of the dictator Suharto. This is how the military junta of Myanmar caused the genocide and forced exile of their Rohingya population. This is how the genocide in Rwanda was caused.

This book is not just an examination of history. It is utterly relevant to our current situation. Here is another excerpt from Chapter One:

As you watch these events unfold in the US through the prism of Mucchielli’s work, it presents a very different view. On January 6, 2021, I knew that the mob in the Capitol had been expertly cultivated, primarily through social media, to believe their government was in the throes of an overthrow by the Left, that if they were to save the nation, they must attack. That group was formed and organized by precise steps, not so different from the mobs of violent Buddhists that descended on the Rohingya villages of Myanmar. Some of the language at the rallies could have been lifted out of Mucchielli’s book.

Mary Wald’s book has been self-published now on Amazon for one critically important reason. We have only a few weeks left before the November 5th election. It would have taken too long for this work to move through the processes of getting a publisher to, proof it, print it, bind it, get it out bookstores and meanwhile design and execute a marketing plan.

Why was time so important here? Again from Chapter One:

I am encouraged by the fact that the psychologists who understood and wrote the bases for this virulent form of propaganda also said, more than once, that its power lies in its being undetected, that it works on people who are unaware of the techniques being used. They said that when people know the techniques, that they will reject the manipulation. We can deflate its power by shining the light of day on it. How we do that will be up to us.

The bottom line is that this form of industrialized propaganda can be rendered ineffective and defeated simply by exposing it and informing people of what’s going on. And each of us can make this happen.

This book is a starting point. It is heavily referenced and will furnish journalists, researchers, investigative reporters and government officials a foundation for digging deeper and rooting out the mechanisms and perpetrators using these techniques against us.
