Hegseth labors under the delusion that the Department of Defense is purely some sort of killing machine. We don't need to waste our time anymore trying to convince him otherwise.
Who is the real command authority of the United States military these days? One would assume the chain of command went from the President as Commander in Chief down to the SecDef and so on. But that may not be the case anymore.
Aside from the persistent rumors that the Deputy Chief of Staff, Steven Miller has been behind some of the more outrageous and questionable activities supposedly signed off by Trump, other data keeps popping up.
Apparently Pete Hegseth is happy to take “commands” from far right “influencers.”
Andrew Kolvet of Turning Point USA posted on social media: “Every new attack aimed at Pete Hegseth makes me want another narco drug boat blown up and sent to the bottom of the ocean.”
Hegseth then quoted Kolvet and commented: “Your wish is our command, Andrew. Just sunk another narco boat.”
Brilliant. So a white supremacist just has to post on social media and Hegseth happily commits some more murders.
What’s going to happen when more and more of these loathsome haters get a clue that it is that easy? Imagine people like Steve Bannon, Laura Loomer or even Erika Kirk getting wise to this.
Honestly, Hegseth should have been fired long ago just for his insane operational security violations not to mention his obvious love for illegal orders and war crimes. Perhaps the House and Senate can gather enough courage to take an appropriate action: Impeachment. The problem there is that Senators who approved Pete Hegseth for his post ignored the most glaring disqualifications in history. So these Senators are actually complicit in this debacle of command degeneration.
There is a possibility in the political calculus of Trump world that merely getting Articles of Impeachment drawn up on Hegseth might be enough to scare Trump into firing him. That would be a small win in what needs to be a full rout of the vile white supremacist incursion into our governmental and military organizations.
