John Bolton has been a right-wing fixture for some time, appointed to various posts by Republican administrations over the past decades.
His political action committee website has this description:
Ambassador John Bolton, a diplomat and a lawyer, has spent many years in public service. He served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations in 2005-2006. He was Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security from 2001 to 2005. In the Reagan Administration, he was an Assistant Attorney General.
But according to Bolton himself he had other jobs less publicized and which were a lot darker than the merely pugilistic attitude he brought with him to the United Nations and to the White House as one of Trump’s musical chairs National Security Advisors.
He admitted in a CNN interview to participating in planning a coup: “As someone who has helped plan coup d’état—not here but, you know, other places—it takes a lot of work.”
Jake Tapper follows up on John Bolton's past coup planning.
Bolton: "I’m not going to get into the specifics, but–"
Tapper: "Successful coups?"

Bolton was trying to make the comparison of how inept Trump had been in his attempt to overthrow our government in the days leading up to and on January 6th. But in making this statement, he showed something of himself.
To be brief, there are certain people you never want to have in your life or on any of your lines of communication. Bolton is a great example: a person who will admit to what are actually heinous acts while not showing even a thread of responsibility.
This man, by his own admission, is a coup plotter. What does this mean? He has blood on his hands. As we know from our own experience on January 6th, coups lead to violence and death. And our country is no stranger to having caused these events on not too distant history, through the efforts of the CIA and other covert operations entities.
Some notable coups that we were involved in in the past were the overthrow of Salvador Allende, the duly elected president of Chile. He was replaced by a veritable Nazi by the name of Augusto Pinochet. Thousands of Chileans died or disappeared never to be seen again.
Earlier there was the coup against Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh of Iran, putting in place the dictator, the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi on 19 August 1953. We are still paying the price for the hatred and enmity created by that action after the Shah was deposed by Ayatollah Khomeni. The cost of human life and suffering during and after this coup is incalculable.
Engineering a coup is not a casual matter. But it seems to be with John Bolton as he shows by using his example to puff himself up in importance to his interviewer.
In reality this is a despicable dark soul who should never be near government service or in any position of public trust. Simply put, human lives and human rights mean exactly nothing to him.
Hopefully, with his utterance, people will finally cease to give him a platform. His opinion has no value to any news channel or to people in general. Slot him for a position in the never-to-be-built hall of infamy.
As for John Bolton’s PAC, realize that the people and corporations funding him and the candidates he’s backing are just as dark.
