Thoughts for November 5th: Blue Blue Days…

What we want to see on November 5th: a very BLUE day for Kamala and all the down-ballot candidates in every state and every race. And a very long and very black night for Trump and his camp.

Tuesday, November 5th is reality day for who becomes President of the United States. If you follow the news and follow the invariable presence of polling data being shoveled out daily, you might be worried that your agreements and ideas that we ought to have a sane leader in the Oval Office are on shaky ground.

That is understandable. But that is the environment that news outlets have overtly created to keep us glued to their pages, both digital and inked. This is their bread and butter, no matter who they do or don’t endorse in their “collective wisdom.” Bezos’s excuse that editorial board endorsements don’t change elections might be true. Newspapers and news outlets don’t actually reflect or have that much effect on actual public opinion—except in the case of FOX whose overt and continuous propaganda does create the underbelly of hate we see and feel.

Meanwhile, listening to people. Observing the candidates. Seeing their crowds and more important the responses of those audiences paints a much clearer picture. My prediction is that Tuesday will form the largest landslide in the history of presidential campaigns and we will have a president-elect in the first female POTUS. This is a bold prediction, one that I have made repeatedly in private and am now putting in pixels.

There’s no science in this statement. There is observation. Kamala Harris is an inspiring, competent person who is very qualified for the position. Her opponent is a convicted felon, overt Nazi sympathizer, racial bigot, sex offender and con man (this is list is short because there’s much more than can be said, but you get the point). He utterly unqualified for the position except in the minds of those who want to overthrow our Constitution.

The interesting thing is that I am far from alone in these observations. They are widespread and thus agreed upon in just about every social circle or interaction you can imagine. The evidence of this has been in front of all of us since the day Kamala Harris announced her run—which resulted in the almost immediate resurrection of the spirits of the entire Democratic Party. It continues all the way through to her surprise appearance on SNL’s Cold Open on November 2nd.

And, it will not abate by November 5th and beyond.

What you are seeing is a hell of a lot of agreement building. This is not being reflected in polling data. And remember that polling has failed us not infrequently at earlier times. Anyone remember 2016?

You might be wondering about the choice of title for this piece. “Blue blue days…” is part of the opening line of a song by Fleetwood Mac from their Kiln House album of 1970. One of the songs, written by Jeremy Spencer, is Buddy’s Song, dedicated to and based on the titles of many of Buddy Holly’s hits. The full line reads “Blue blue days, and long black nights.”

It is my consideration and intent for what will happen on Tuesday: a very BLUE day for Kamala and all the down-ballot candidates in every state and every race. And a very long and very black night for Trump and his camp.

Please join me in this decision and add to the agreement already building. We’ve lived under the threat of a fascist dictatorship long enough. Tuesday is the deadline for all of us to put period to the seemingly endless efforts by far-right factions in this country to drag it away from the promise of the Constitution. Besides, it is also OUR job as citizens to uphold and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Tuesday’s victory needs to be decisive, unequivocal and crushing. If you have not voted yet, make sure you do whatever it takes on Tuesday. You are the blue wave.
