There are many frightening images and videos that were generated during the insurrection of January 6th. The gallows is perhaps one of the most chilling, especially when coupled with the chant of the rioters, “Hang Mike Pence.”
Another chilling one shows a long-haired, long-bearded man wearing a black “Camp Auschwitz” T-shirt emblazoned with a skull and crossbones, and under it the phrase “work brings freedom” — an English translation of the Auschwitz concentration camp motto: “Arbeit macht frei.”
These and some of the others in the gallery below are stark reminders of the fact that our government underwent an attempted coup that day at the hands of supporters of Trump. The mountains of evidence, terabytes of photos, videos and messages, the over 400 arrests so far, the 140 or so injuries and 5 deaths, are now being gaslighted by the Trump faction of the Republican party as a “normal tourist visit.”
“The most absurd statement, however, came from Rep. Andrew Clyde who said, out loud, in public: ‘Let me be clear, there was no insurrection and to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie. Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January 6, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit.'”
Look over these images and decide for yourself if these folks look like friendly tourists calmly visiting our seat of government. It really comes down to this. How many tourists do you know that bring a gallows along for the trip?
