With the Republican National Committee censure of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their continued roles in the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Insurrection includes some interesting phrasing.
The censure announcement said the two lawmakers are participating in “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse” by sitting on the Jan. 6 panel.
By this we must now conclude that the Republican National Committee now considers violence, the destruction of public and government property, rioting, the smearing of excrement in the Capitol and manslaughter to be “legitimate political discourse.”
Lest we forget, January 6th was an outright attempt at a coup against the newly elected government of the United States. It was utterly incompetent. But it was also deadly and destructive. Much is still being revealed everyday about who participated in it, planned it and coordinated it.
The daily fact dumps about the insurrection include more and more direct evidence that the former president had his hands in the pie up to his armpits. And therein lies the rub for the RNC. Their initials should now be changed as they are no longer actually Republicans, but rather Trumpublicans, divorced utterly from the truth of the treason they are now complicit in and completely in breach of their responsibility to the nation.
Since their “Don” is now openly embracing the violence and lawlessness of that day with his promises to pardon the attackers should be he re-elected, of course these sycophants are following right along.
